What Is Picoway?
|
|
| |
Candela PicoWay is an advanced picosecond laser system that delivers three core wavelengths (532nm, 730nm, and 1064nm), supported by multiple handpieces and adjustable settings, including different beam (spot) sizes for highly customized treatments.
This allows clinicians to tailor treatment parameters with high precision, minimal discomfort, and low to no downtime across a wide range of skin types.
With appropriate wavelength selection — particularly 1064nm for deeper skin tones — PicoWay can be safely used across Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI, making it a versatile option for both lighter and darker skin.
Why PicoWay is Different
Because of its picosecond technology, PicoWay is able to:
- Break pigment into finer particles for faster clearance
- Reduce thermal (heat) damage to skin
- Lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
- Improve safety for Asian and darker skin tones
- This makes it especially suitable for pigmentation-prone skin, including melasma and PIH, when performed with appropriate clinical settings.
PicoWay is FDA-cleared for:
- Benign pigmented lesions including Melasma
- Acne scars
- Tattoo removal
- Wrinkles and skin rejuvenation

Different Beam Size = Maximise Treatment Results
Beam size refers to the diameter of laser energy delivered onto the skin. Different beam sizes allow practitioners to customize treatments based on skin concerns, skin type, and treatment depth.

Doctor Skills Matter
Effective PicoWay treatment is not only about owning the device — it also depends on proper parameter selection, beam size adjustment, wavelength choice, and understanding of skin biology.
